Raphael Warnock


  Raphael Warnock is an American pastor and political figure.  He is currently a United States Senator from Georgia, having been elected in the 2020 special election, becoming the first black Democrat from Georgia to be elected to the U.S. Senate.  Prior to his political career, Warnock served as senior pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia, the same church where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once served as pastor.  He is a graduate of Morehouse College and holds a Master of Divinity degree from Union Theological Seminary and a Ph.D.  in Systematic Theology from Emory University's Candler School of Theology.  Warnock has been an advocate for social justice and has spoken out against issues such as poverty, racial inequality and voter suppression.  He is also a strong supporter of health care reform and expanding access to education.

Early life of Raphael Warnock


  Raphael Warnock was born in 1969 in Savannah, Georgia.  He was raised by his mother in public housing and attended local public schools.  He went on to attend Morehouse College, a historically black college in Atlanta, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology.  He later earned a Master of Divinity degree from the Interfaith Theological Center, and a PhD in theology from Emory University.  Warnock is a Baptist minister, and has been the senior pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta since 2005.

    Warnock lives in Atlanta.  He married Oulèye Ndoye on 14 February 2016 in a public ceremony.  The couple held a secret service in January.  They have two children.  The couple separated in November 2019 and separated in 2020.


    In March 2020, while Warnock and Ndoye were going through divorce proceedings, Ndoye accused Warnock of running over her foot with his car during a verbal argument.  Warnock denied the allegation.  After Warnock called police to the scene, Ndoye was reluctant to show his foot to the responding police officer, who "did not see any signs of Ms. Ollie's foot running away," according to an Atlanta Police Department report.  ;  Medical professionals then arrived at the scene, but were unable to detect "any swelling, redness, or bruises or broken bones" on Ndoye's foot.  Police have not charged Warnock with any crime in connection with the incident.


    In February 2022, Ndoye asked the court to modify her child custody agreement, giving her "additional custody of her two younger children so that they can complete a program at Harvard University", and Child  Support.  To recalculate payments.


    In October 2022, Savannah's city government renamed Cape Street, the street where Warnock grew up in public housing during the 1980s, in his honor.

  Raphael Warnock is married to Ouleye Ndoye, a Senegalese-American woman.  The couple met while they were both students at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia.  They have been married for many years and have two children.  Ouleye Ndoye is a professor at Spelman College, a historically black college for women in Atlanta.  He is also a noted scholar and researcher in the field of African and African American studies.  Ouleye Ndoye is originally from Senegal and came to America to pursue her education.  He holds a Ph.D.  in African and African American Studies from Harvard University.  He is known for his research on race, gender and identity in the African diaspora.  Ouleye Ndoye is also a public speaker and has been invited to speak at various educational conferences and events.
